The underdog

The day was Monday, the sun was bright
We travelled all the way to the Buona Vista site

As young applicants of the LES
Our French had to catch up with the rest

They had such flair, perhaps us no
But we wanted to bring glory for the front row

So off we went to try our luck
Ignoring the fact that we actually suck

Monday was over and Tuesday came
A week then passed and out came the names

Not being from the mugger Tuesday class
We got to know of the sad news last

Passion unfuelled and dreams shattered
We were left to bitch about their selection method

December holidays no longer in France
I could start learning the orientation dance

Our hearts were broken, we started to cry
Not getting this scholarship just made us wanna die

I don't know what you think, but this shit is deep
I think I'd be better off going to sleep

But just so you know, and just so you remember
In the bloody end it's your damn grades that matter

Even if now they don't say so,
TCS is here to let you know.

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE ALL ABOUT GRADES.

THEY DON'T GIVE THE UNDERDOG A CHANCE.

I think instead of French we could go learn Russian instead. After all, this system is so Russian-like. The strong gets stronger while the weak are just left to fend for themselves. For all those applying for scholarships and have been granted an interview, compare your grades with the other interviewees before going for the interview. If it's significantly lower, then just don't bother going for the thing. It's proven to be a waste of time and resources. And money.

Because going by the fact that time = money, a 3-hour round trip to Buona Vista constitutes a hell lot of money wasted. I'll try to illustrate this in figures.

Time wasted - 3 hours, which converts to $60, because I can earn this amount of money in 3 hours doing something else more productive in school, like betting on who will score the lowest in tests with many ppl
EZ-link fare - 50 cents both ways, now that's $1
Misc. - Compulsory coffee that they make you buy at MOE (actually it's not really compulsory but you have to get a drink don't you), which costs like $1
Misc. part 2 - Getting lunch and snacks to survive the rest of the day in school, as going out of school and coming back in means you feel more tired for the rest of the day. So you naturally need supplies. That's $3 (lunch) + $4 (snacks) = $7.

Will someone please calculate the total amount of money I've wasted?

Now that I've provided the 前车之鉴 for you, don't you ever make the same mistake again.

MOE is no FA Cup. Underdogs are given no chance.

Okay that's enough bitching even though I know that's probably what dogs do best.

And if you haven't got it by now, I'm the underdog.
