An ode to the commitment-phobe

They say we live in an uncertain world.
Indeed, who am I to make it more certain?
It makes more sense to thrive in uncertain waters,
than to mollify a tempest all over.

Can I make it for the appointment, you ask,
Yes of course, but it depends,
on whether my mother has cooked,
or if the weather is good.

It's not my fault I am a busy man,
everybody wants a piece of me!
Get in the queue now and take a number,
else don't blame me if you're still waiting next summer.

Sometimes I am late and sometimes I don't turn up,
and it looks like I overslept and couldn't give a damn.
But didn't your mama tell you looks can be deceiving?
They certainly are, because the previous night I was doing hardcore problem-solving.

You think you can avoid me.
But unfortunately,
I am everywhere.
I am especially in those who don't think I am there.
